Organizing Hoodies
You think you want to organize cohort hoodies (or got pushed into it). To be honest, you’re probably in for a very rough ride but that’s okay! There are a lot of choices to make in the process, and the biggest thing to keep in mind is that Nobody Knows What They Want ™️ but somehow everybody knows what they don’t want, so be confident in the calls you make. You got this 😄
Preliminary Thoughts
- Timing: Is the current term a good time for you to be planning hoodies? I think 2A is ideal for the cohort hoodies because 1A/1B you spend time getting to know each other, B terms are Busy, and people get inert past 2nd year.
- Design: Carefully consider how many choices you are going to give people. Here are some:
- Cohort signatures? (Y/N)
- Colour choices?
- Hoodie sizes?
- Embroidery? (Y/N)
- Design?
- Design sizes?
- Design locations?
- Brand?
- Price? *Note that price is dynamic to the number of people who buy it
- Where you’re going to buy it from (Recommend https://www.entripy.com) ← the Jerzees and Gildan hoodies are both very good options!
Process
- Get your cohort HYPED about hoodies!!!
- Make three forms
- Design submissions
- Design voting
- Other logistical voting (above)
- Make the final decision by checking costs with https://www.entripy.com/
- Get people to lock in and pay (Good luck! Be ready to chase ppl down, risk buying extras)
- Purchase it
- Hand it out
- Note that there will be many, many boxes
- In our case, we asked EngSoc to keep it at their office and then handed it out during our EOT (SE29s got the 6 boxes shipped to the SE office, then distributed them in the EIT lounge)
- Haha you already KNOW some people won’t be there for the three unique times you make for people to show up and grab their hoodies so just toss em in the lounge eventually
History
SE 29:
Came out to $45 a person w/o personalization, and $53 with embroidery on the sleeve. We got 52 orders in Round 1 and made $372 profit (had to do a round 2 because we lost a hoodie and there was also some FOMO once ppl saw the hoodies 🤪)
We gave the cohort two hoodie colour options: light blue and charcoal (sorry for the yellow REV lighting; trust that they look a lot better irl LOL).

SE27:
Came out to $54.46 a person shoutout @Kevin Tong for actually making the purchase cuz my credit card limit was not that high
